Makhana is popularly known as Lotus seeds or Fox nuts. These make great snack and are mostly used in upvas dishes. They are known for their gluten free, protein rich and high in carbohydrates nature. Lots of delicious dishes are prepared using them.
Presenting a healthy version of Makhane laddoo, with the goodness of makhana, nuts, chia seeds and ghee.
Ingredients -
I choosed a glass for my measurements below
- Phool Makhana / Lotus seeds - 2 glasses
- Urad dal - 1 glass
- Roasted Chana dal / Putnaalu pappu - 1 glass
- Badam - 1/2 glass
- Cashews - 1/2 glass
- Granola / Oats - 1/2 glass
- Chia seeds - 1 tbsp
- Sugar - 1 1/2 glasses
- Ghee - 1 glass
- Elaichi / Cardamom seeds - 1 tsp
Recipe :
1. Dry roast each ingredient individually except sugar. Make sure you don't burn or over roast, slight brown shade is good to use.
Makhana must turn crispy after you roasted well.
2. Keep them all aside and let that cool completely.
3. When all ingredients are cooled, make smooth & fine powder individually. Sieve them all into a mixing bowl.
Also powder the sugar along with elaichi.
4. Mix all the powders well.
5. Heat a glass of ghee and add in batches to the laddoo powder. Initially mix using a spatula and then mix with your hand.
6. Check for the binding and then shape the laddoos. If needed add little more ghee to bind.
Store them in an airtight box.
Enjoy the healthy laddoss. This is will good for kids with the chia, dry fruits and urad dal mixed.
Chia seeds are rich in anti oxidants, Dry fruits are rich in proteins while urad dal improves bone health.
