Tomato Perugu Pachadi / Tomato Curd Chutney (No Onion / Garlic)

Chutneys are a great companions for all those Indian style tiffins or dishes. The chutneys for rice might slightly vary from the tiffin chutneys. This will be great with Idlys, dosas, Upma and others.

Ingredients : - Ripe Tomatoes - 3 medium - Green Chillies - 4-5 - Curd - 1/2 cup - Dry red chillies - 3-5 - Jeera - 1 tsp - Mustard seeds - 1 tsp - Channa dal - 1 tsp - Urad dal - 1 tsp - Chopped coriander - Curry leaves - 5-6 - Oil - 1 1/2 tbsp - Water - 2 tbsps - Turmeric - 1/2 tsp - Salt - as required - Chilli Powder - 1 tsp Recipe : 1. Chop tomatoes into big chunks. Also slit green chillies.

2. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, jeera, channa dal, urad dal, curry leaves. Let the seeds splutter and then add dry red chillies.

3. Add turmeric & green chillies now and fry till you get nice aroma.

4. Now add tomato chunks and salt. Cook till the raw smell wades and they become mushy.  When tomatoes are cooked there should be no raw smell or taste left.

5. Turn off the heat when tomatoes are cooked with no raw taste and add chilli powder to this. Mix well and check for spices.

6. Now whisk the curd and water . This should be in tight consistency not flowing one.

7. When its half cooled, add the curd and mix well. If you add curd when it is completely hot, there are chances that it will curdle.

8. You can temper this chutney again or enjoy as is. Enjoy with Idlys, dosas, bajjis, rotis and many more...
