Mirchi Bajji / Pakoda

Updated: Sep 22, 2020

During monsoons or any cold evenings, we usually start craving for the spicy hot mirchi bhajji / pakoda... With a cup of tea to enjoy the weather or over a conversation or just as a snack time....

The pakodas are ever favorite tea time snack ..

Ingredients:

- Besan - 1 1/2 cups

- Salt - as required

- Carrom seeds/Ajwain - 3 tsps + 1/4 tsp

- Turmeric - a pinch

- Rice flour - 2 tsp

- Water - as required

- Lemon - 1

- Bhajji chillies - 8 or 9

- Oil - or frying

Recipe :

1. Wash and clean chillies for bajji, also heat oil in a kadai.

2. Mix 3tsps carrom seeds, salt, lemon juice, 2 tsps of besan in a bowl

3. Now slit chillies, remove the seeds and stuff the above prepared mix. Be careful and delicately handle the chillies while stuffing or they tend to break.

4. For batter, take besan, rice flour, salt, carrom seeds into a bowl and mix well with water to make a thick batter.

Add a spoon of hot oil and a pinch of turmeric. Mix this well.

* Hot oil in the batter will make the bajjis fluffy and nice.

5. Now cover the chillies in batter and gently drop into the hot oil. Fry well and place them on a paper to drain the excess oil.

6. Serve hot. This goes well with or without sauce or chutney along with a cup of hot tea.
